Choose one essay you feel needs improvement, and answer the following questions based on your essay: 1. What was your original thesis (Write it down on a separate sheet of paper)? How could it be improved? (Rewrite new thesis under original thesis) 2.What is your first claim (write it down)? (Hint: This should be the topic sentence or first sentence of your first body paragraph). Answer the appropriate questions below: Synthesis: Does the first claim include the first reason you included in your thesis? Does it include whether you are for, against, or qualify? Rhetorical Analysis: Does first claim include one type of rhetoric you will be discussing in body paragraph 1? Does it include Friedman’s argument? Argumentative: Does first claim include one reason why you agree, disagree, or qualify Boorstin’s distinction? If your first claim for the essay you are improving does NOT include any of the pieces mentioned above, write out original claim and then underneath it, rewrite it so it includes all parts. ASSIGNMENT 2: Complete your FRQ #3 rewrite. Bring both your original FRQ and your rewrite to class on Monday/Tuesday. We will be comparing and contrasting the two drafts. |
